CAD Software for Digitizing the Sheet Metal Process Chain
As a link between design and manufacturing, the SPI SheetMetal Solutions are the ideal complement to the existing functionalities of mainstream CAD software. Our software makes it possible to easily carry out the necessary preparation steps in the CAD model and then, even if the model changes, to obtain a manufacturable flat pattern.
The available interfaces, as well as the ability to add manufacturing-relevant information to DXF files, ensure optimal connection to CAM and offline programming systems. With a corresponding SPI interface, it is possible to account for material and bending information as well as to ensure the right manufacturing radii and other bending factors already during design.
With SPI SheetMetal Solutions, manufacturing-ready flat patterns are achieved with little to no changes to the CAD model. Settings can be defined for different component types, which can be subsequently used for new models and help to ensure a consistent unfolding quality.
SPI SheetMetal Calculator
A newcomer in the SPI product portfolio is the SPI SheetMetal Calculator, which is directly integrated into the existing SPI sheet metal applications. This is how it works:
Rule-based, the designer calculates the cost of his model in real-time. Based on the estimate, he can develop alternatives and calculate how much costs will be incurred if, for example, he chooses another material.
The pricing scheme is individually defined for the company. Cost reductions due to cheaper component variants, replacement of cost drivers with more economical alternatives, even production locations can be taken into account. The technology database of the SheetMetal Calculator contains all production facilities, tools, cutting values, material information, and calculation bases of the company.
The designer can call up a price calculation of his model at any time. The calculation result is clearly displayed, without further input or system change. The user can compare any number of calculations or use other calculation bases.
The claim to “Best price” is no longer an illusion, it can be easily achieved.
